About

My name is Brandon, and I’m addicted to good beer.

My drift from macrolagers to all things craft has been gradual, but persistent since some time mid-college, due in no small part to learning to Brew My Own. I started homebrewing back in December 2009, moved to all grain when the wife and I bought our first house in June 2010 and haven’t looked back since. I love that brewing can be as laid-back or as scientific as you want. I think it’s compelling that people have made beer for thousands of years, and we’ve only understood microbiology for the last couple hundred. To me, it’s the perfect blend of art, craft, and science.

Some things you should know about me: I call Fargo, North Dakota home along with a wonderful wife and a golden retriever. I brew with a few buddies occasionally, and recently joined the Prairie Homebrewing Companions, a local homebrew club.  If you’re in line at a concert for a $2 PBR pounder, I’ll probably be right behind you, and I’m not above drinking an ice cold Miller Lite on a hot, sunny day. I’ve been known to drink too much bourbon on occasion. I aspire to someday be invited to brew a pro-am beer. Try as I might, I can’t get excited about malty beers save for a barleywine or a nice amber now and then. Consequently,  I put hops in damn near everything (the more astute readers may have guessed that already).

I started this blog to chronicle my craft beer and brewing adventures. I hope to share my passion for this culture and hobby with others and show people that making great beer is not hard, and waiting aside, it’s more fun that one might think.
